HOW TO USE A CONDOM

  1. Roll it On
First, check the expiration date! Put the condom on after the penis is hard and before starting sex. Squeeze the tip of the condom to remove any air and roll the condom down all the way to the base of the penis.

  2. Lube it Up
Applying additonal lubricant ("lube") is recommended. Make sure it's water-based (e.g. AstroGlide or KY Jelly. Never use oil-based lubes such as Vaseline, baby oil, or hand lotion, because they can weaken the condom and cause it to break.

  3. Toss it Out
After sex, slowly withdraw the penis while it is still hard. Carefully hold the rim of the condom between the fingers so nothing spills.Toss the used condom in the trash. Never flush a used condom down the toilet?

CONDOM TIPS

  • ALWAYS use a new condom with each act of sex. Never re-use a condom…. even if the male didn't ejaculate or "come".

  • Believe it or not, condoms have an "expiration date". Always check the expiration date on the package before using a condom…if the date has passed, throw it away.

  • NEVER use 2 condoms at the same time. Some people think that they are being "extra safe" by wearing 2 condoms, but the friction of the condoms rubbing together can actually increase the chances that one or both of the condoms will break.

  • Always leave some space at the tip of the condom, usually about 1/2 inch.  Some condoms are made with a "reservoir tip" for that purpose; other condoms don't have this special end. In either case, lightly pinch the tip of the condom between your fingers while rolling the condom onto the penis. That way there will be room for the semen ("come"), and less chance that the condom will break.

HOW TO STORE CONDOMS

Store unused condoms in a cool, dry place - away from direct heat and sunlight.

Never keep a condom in a wallet. This is a tough place for such a important item to "live". Condoms that are put in wallets get squished, are quickly damaged, and often get tears and holes in them. Much better places are a shirt pocket, front pocket of your jeans, a purse, etc.

Don't keep condoms in a car. Temperature changes will make them less effective. Very warm temperatures - - like a car parked in the sun - - can severely weaken condoms.

HOW TO HANDLE A CONDOM

  • Be sure that both you and your partner wash your hands with soap before touching the condom. (This will help prevent the spread of any disease.)

  • Don't use a sharp object like your teeth, scissors, or sharp nails to open a condom wrapper…you could easily cut the condom!

  • Make sure it's not too dark, and that you have enough light to see when opening the condom wrapper…or you could damage the condom.

  • Inspect the condom before using it to make sure that it is not dry, brittle or damaged.

  • Handle condoms gently. They're tough enough for sex, but sharp or rough objects can easily puncture or tear them, so you want to be careful.

DISPOSAL OF A USED CONDOM

  • Throw the used condom away in the trash. Do not flush used condoms down the toilet.
